Set of irons from Spalding's heyday around the late 1970's - these irons were sold for almost 10 years probably because of great head design which had a wide, rounded sole and very deep cavity with weight emphasis on the toe where most average player mishits occur. Heads very good with minor nicks. Shafts are all Medium flex Spalding Lite Jet Steps except the 1 iron which is stiff. Shafts have good chrome sparkle with the exception being the 7 which has the bag burn mark buffed out (so even it looks pretty good). Grips are age hardened and need replacement except the 1 which has a near-new GP Tour Velvet grip. Spalding made excellent golf equipment for many years but had a marketing slip which caused their demize in the early 2000's - their quality was always good but golf equipment success is based mostly on promotions and endorsements and they failed in the latter categories. 5 iron 37 1/2".
