A unique set that might be complete as is, since often producers like Wilson sold long and short sets. The 8 iron in this set has a 51 degree loft or about equivalent to today's pitching wedges. The 7's loft is 44 degrees. Since golf balls were not too lively in yesteryear, note some of the estimated yardages listed on the iron head backs e.g. the 7 at 75-95 yards. Besides high lofts, the irons have virtually no bounce so a 'fat' shot is very often totally non-productive (although, Harry Vardon had some positive things to say about fat shots in his writings). The tan plastic covered 'transition' shafts are almost perfect with no chips. Ferrules are perfect. And, most remarkable, are the 'Oval Grip Rite' grips which are leather wraps around wood shapened shaft butts (Wilson first marketed their 'Reminder Grip' in 1932). All collars are in place as are all oval shaped, numbered butt end caps. 2 iron length 38 1/2"; 5 iron length 37".
